Ditch The Act

Ditch The Act by Ryan Foland and Leonard Kim was a special read for the Bird Rock Systems team! This book opened up our minds to how we can elevate our own personal brand by being vulnerable, relatable, and honest in order to make a long-lasting and meaningful impression.

Thanks to our CEO, we were able to have a virtual meet and greet with one of the authors! Ryan Foland helped our team work through some of the exercises in his book to give us a better understanding of how we can simply introduce ourselves and answer the question, "What do you do?" in a way that emphasizes our value but not giving too much away. The idea of the exercise was to keep your answers simple, yet intriguing by following his simple formula. What is the formula? You'll have to read the book, to find out!

Randy Meyers
Business Development Manager

I have always been in the sales end of things. I have sold Ice to Eskimos in my 4-career history. I was in the Telecommunications industry for many years with Sprint, then moved into high end sales and management in assorted industries. I was in the Mortgage business for over 12 years as a Senior Loan officer, then as a branch manager. I am also a professional musician and have been working in the industry now for four decades. Also, for the last five years, I worked as a Business Development Manger for Sharp Electronics.

The value I bring to the team is to find new opportunities, researching leads, and arranging appointments with executives to help clients grow their technology goals.

My favorite color is blue!

If I were stuck on a desert island I would bring:

Food
Music
And a book on how to get off the island!

Yvette Lane
Recruiter & Account Manager

Yvette leads searches for highly-specialized technical talent, as well as finance and accounting positions within the tech industry. She is learning the ropes in IT Sales as an Account Manager in LA with Christine Kim as her mentor. Yvette holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle and Master’s in Psychology from Pepperdine University.

Yvette is an avid surfer and equestrian. She also volunteers as an equine therapist.

The value I bring to Bird Rock Systems is having over 3 and a half years of experience as a technical recruiter. Throughout which, I have been an independent headhunter, part of Tinder’s HR & Recruiting team and has acted as a technical recruiting consultant at an executive search firm. I also bring experience and knowledge in finance and accounting roles from my early career at Goldman Sachs.

My favorite color is yellow because it is HAPPY!

If I were stuck on a deserted island, I would bring:

A horse
A surfboard
A friend!

Christine Conrad
Operations Specialist

I am a mother to an 11-year-old daughter. She is my whole world! I am a hard worker, who is dedicated, loyal, and driven to keep being better. Some things that make me happy are the outdoors, Mexican food, tequila, Netflix, spending time with family and friends, and being out on a boat.

The value I bring to the Bird Rock System’s team is tenacity.

My favorite color is red.

If I were stuck on a deserted island, I would bring:

Tequila
A knife
Toothbrush with toothpaste.

Ricardo Rivas
Sales Operations and Renewals Intern

My name is Ricardo Rivas, I was born on February 10, 2000 which means I have no problem calculating my age. I have played basketball since I was 7 years old, but I also like to practice many other sports. I consider myself an adventurous person as I love to try new things, go fast, fly, and jump; that’s what makes me feel free. It is very difficult for me to say “no” to a new adventure. I can easily form relationships and make new friends. I love my family with all my heart (including Mark:/) and I am very lucky for all my friends because I have known most of them from a very young age.

The value I bring to the Bird Rock System’s team is … Integrity and energy.

My favorite color is … Red

Marketing Intern

Hi, I am Alee! I am a recent graduate from San Francisco State University where I earned a B.S degree. in Business Marketing. Upon graduating I moved back to Orange County, California where I spend most of my time in the outdoors hiking, camping, or at the beach. I have an adventurous heart and a strong passion for seeing the world! I've traveled to 13 different countries where I tried new cuisine, experienced new cultures and learned so much history. If you were trying to find me on the weekend, I'd probably be enjoying the sun in Laguna Beach.

The value I bring to the Bird Rock System's team is a positive mindset and eagerness to keep learning.

DONATE A SURF BOARD, CHANGE A LIFE

We are looking for surf board and boogie board donations, in partnership with Mi Sueno Foundation, to give to the children at Door of Faith orphanage in Baja, California. The orphanage is close to the coast and we know all board donations will be put to great use. The ocean is a special place, and being able to open up that world to the children of Baja can be life changing!

A TOUCH OF DISNEY

Disneyland announces a new ticketed experience, A Touch of Disney, giving ticket holders access to select outdoor areas within Disney California Adventure Park. A touch of Disney makes its debut March 18th, 2021 - Thursdays through Mondays from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Ticket sales opened March 4th and much be purchased prior to arriving to the park.

Amusement parks have been given the approval by the state government to reopen starting April 1st, 2021. Although, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure parks have announced their re-opening to be on April 30th with reservations.

SAN DIEGO PADRES OPENING DAY

The San Diego Padres take the field April 1st @ 1:10pm for opening game! The organization plans to utilize every part of the stadium to create a fun experience for fans. The stadium will be at 20% capacity with ticket sales only available to season ticket holders.
